Happy,
self-confident, and physically fit youngsters are the most
important products of Kokushi Dojo Judo, Karate, Aikido and
Jujitsu School located here in Wyckoff.
Judo, Karate, Aikido and Jujitsu are taught in the traditional
Japanese way, they are not only effective means of self-defense,
but also popular competitive sports, and means of body conditioning.
In Japan, these art forms of training build quiet self-confidence,
character, and serenity of mind.
The literal meaning of Judo is "the gentle way."
Proper Judo training teaches an aggressive child to avoid
conflict and a shy child to be poised.

It
is easy for a youngster to avoid belligerence if he or she
is inwardly secure and confident. The students' competitive
skills are enhanced by winning trophies at local tournaments
that all students are encouraged to attend. Kokushi Dojo has
produced many state, national and international champions.
As the director of Kokushi Dojo, Mr. N. Ogasawara forms the
policies that will affect you as a student. Having reached
maturity in Japan, Mr. Ogasawara or Sensei (respected teacher),
as his students call him, has brought qualities to his school
that come from his Asian upbringing and martial arts training.
The main quality is respect - respect for teacher and student,
for body and mind, and for effort given.
Mr. Ogasawara is an 8th degree black belt master in Judo,
Karate, and Jujitsu. He was the N.J. State all around Karate
champion, 5th North Eastern, and 6th U.S. Inv. Karate grand
champion. He was also the winner of the All American Karate
Championship in Madison Square Garden.
He
was a physical education professor at Kokushikan University
in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Ogasawara was sent here by his University's
International Dept. to promote martial arts in America. |
For
7 years (1988-1995), he was the head coach for the West Point
Military Academy Judo team, a teacher of 9/11 UN flight #93
Hero Jeremy Glick. He is the author of "Textbook of Judo",
"A Safe Way to Teach and Learn Judo for Children from
5 years Old", "Karate" and "Illustrated
Action Karate" and, Judo Video Tapes. Mr. Ogasawara has
taken his responsibility very seriously and is present and
teaching at every class that is held in his dojo (school).
Years of experience and a true desire to extend the wisdom
and joy of martial arts to people who want to learn have shaped
and formed the Kokushi Dojo Judo, Karate, Aikido and Jujitsu
School of Wyckoff into what it is today. |
